Preparing for the Thyme of Your Life Cocktail
Thyme of Your Life Cocktail
When we’re on a girls weekend, all we have is “thyme” right?
Using herbs in cocktails is extremely underrated--they add so much depth to the flavor. A perfect pairing is gin and thyme. The thyme adds a woodsy scent and flavor, making this cocktail perfectly refreshing for the summer months. Your girlfriends will love this themed cocktail when you’re watching Dirty Dancing and...sing it with me...having the thyme of your life...or planning your next girls weekend to Lake Lure.
Ingredients for 1 cocktail | Multiply by degree of thirst, divide by number of girlfriends!
Thyme simple syrup
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons fresh thyme
2 tablespoons gin
1 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons tonic or soda water
Make simple syrup by bringing water, sugar, and fresh thyme to a simmer in a small saucepan.Let simmer for a few minutes. Remove from heat.
Let syrup infuse for another ten minutes. Strain into a jar.
Combine gin, fresh lemon juice, and 2 teaspoons thyme simple syrup in a small glass.
Stir well, add 4-5 ice cubes, top off with about tonic or soda water, and add a sprig of thyme.
