The Baggage Claim Podcast

Somebody you love is carrying something right now that you can’t see.

And honestly, some days it’s you.

The show

One woman’s letter, read out loud without her name, and unpacked with someone who knows the way through it.

The heartbreak, the friendship loss, the chapter nobody prepared her for. Lisa Najarian hosts every episode “not as a therapist, not as a counselor, not as an expert,” in her words, but as “a woman who’s lived a lot of life.”

  1. 1

    A woman writes in

    Whatever she is carrying, anonymously.

  2. 2

Lisa reads it on the air

Every word of the letter, never her name.

  3. 3

    We unpack it together

With a guest who knows the territory.

The first episode

Episode 01.

Episode 01: Menopause, with Jo LaMarca Mathisen

Jo LaMarca Mathisen, former NBC journalist and executive producer of The M Factor, joins Lisa.

The chapter so many women walk into without a map, and almost nobody talks about out loud. Lisa and Jo unpack it, honestly.

“A woman wrote me that she looked in the mirror at three o’clock in the morning and did not recognize the person looking back at her. I’ve been that person at three o’clock in the morning.”

Write to Lisa

Unpack your baggage, anonymously.

“If there’s something you’ve never said out loud, write to me. I will read it on the air. Maybe yours could be the next one.”Lisa

  • Your name and email are never read on the air.
  • Only Lisa’s team sees what you send.
  • Short or long, polished or messy. Write it the way you would say it to a friend.

Dear Lisa,

Tell her what you are carrying. There is no wrong way to start.

Leave your email blank to stay completely anonymous. If you add it, it is only so Lisa can reply privately, and it is never shared or read out.

Lisa grew up moving constantly and went to ten different elementary schools. Being the perpetual new girl taught her to notice who is left out, and who looks lonely in the middle of a crowded room.

The Baggage Claim is where those women get heard.

Questions

Before you write

Is it really anonymous?

Yes. Lisa reads the letter, never the name or the email address of the woman who sent it. Sign it with a made-up name if you would rather.

Will every letter be read on the show?

Each episode unpacks one letter, so not every letter can be on the air. Every one of them is read with care.

Who are the guests?

Women who know the territory of each letter. Episode 01 is with Jo LaMarca Mathisen, executive producer of The M Factor.

Where can I listen?

On Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube, and right here on this page, as soon as Episode 01 is released.

Is this therapy?

No. Lisa is not a therapist and she will tell you so herself. If you are in crisis, please call or text 988 in the US, any time, day or night.

We were not meant to carry it alone.

All that baggage. Write it down, and let us unpack it with you.
